La Vuelta Cycle Race 2024 starts in Portugal with an individual time trial around the capital city of Lisbon and remains in Portugal for 3 days before entering western Spain. The route continues through the regions of Malaga, Andalusia and Galicia and on to Northern Spain for the third week where it travels through the regions Asturias, Cantabria, Basque Country, La Rioja and Burgos Province until the final day - an individual time trial in the capital city of Madrid. The opening ceremony of the summer Olympic Games will take place on Friday 26th July 2024. A fleet of boats carrying athletes will sail along the Seine from Austerlitz bridge beside the Jardin des Plantes in the east to Trocadero in the west where the final shows will take place.
