Paris - Brest - Paris is a long distance cycling event in France which takes place every 4 years. The aim is to cycle from Paris to Brest (in Brittany) and back within 90 hours, a non-competitive endurance challenge.
Starting from Rambouillet Castle on the outskirts of Paris the route then passes through Dreux (Eure-et-Loir), Mortagne-au-Perche (Orne,Normandy), Villaines-la-Juhel (Mayenne), Fougeres and Tinteniac (Ile-et-Vilaine,Brittany), Loudeac (Cotes d'Armor,Brittany), Carhaix (Finistere,Brittany) before arriving at Brest (Finistere,Brittany) and then returns via the same route.
A special route is provided for support vehicles.

On Friday the 'Paris-Roubaix Challenge' village welcomes all cyclists to this annual cyling weekend. A test of endurance and skill with routes which include some cobbled streets and some roads open to traffic. The Saturday event is open to all and will follow the same route as the professionals event which will take place on Sunday.
Three distances :
start Busigny town hall to Paris and finish at the Jean Stablinski Velodrome in Roubaix (172km)
start Roubaix Velodrome to Paris and finish Roubaix Velodrome (145km and 70km)

The battery at Longues-sur-Mer is one of the German gun emplacements along the Atlantic wall. Pegasus Bridge and the large Memorial Museum are in Caen.

La Velodyssee - French Cycle Routes

La Velodyssee is a series of french cycle routes including cycle lanes, trails, some lanes for non-motorised traffic and some quiet minor roads. Often scenic whether near the seafront, forest or alongside canal / river banks and sometimes using former railway tracks - plus intersecting with other European cycle routes.
One route follows the Atlantic coast from Roscoff in Brittany to Hendaye in Aquitaine, total 1200 kms. The Breton part is from Roscoff to Nantes, following alongside the Nantes-Brest canal and passing Lake Guerledan (the largest artificial lake in Brittany). Then the route continues through the regions Pays de la Loire, Poitou-Charentes and Aquitaine.
